According to Rightmove, downsizers are the driving force in today\u2019s market, with\u00a0trading down now the single biggest reason given for selling<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Leading south London estate agent, Wooster &amp; Stock, suggests that those trading down are\u00a0generally baby boomers that have experienced an increase in their property values in recent\u00a0years. But like the Rightmove report suggests, these people are rich on paper in terms of\u00a0property wealth but may be short of easily available cash and have decided it is not worth\u00a0holding out any longer for the recession to end and lift house prices once more.<\/p>\n<p>Becky Munday, Head of Sales, Wooster &amp; Stock comments: \u201cMore retirees are downsizing\u00a0their homes in order to free up capital that is currently tied to property, in order to cover rising\u00a0living expenses. As they tend to purchase smaller homes, we are now seeing an increase in\u00a0beautiful large family houses on the market at fairly competitive prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor example, there are homes with four or more bedrooms available in SE5 from \u00a3800,000\u00a0to more than \u00a31.2m.2 There really are some amazing opportunities for families to cement\u00a0their London roots and for investors to build up their property portfolios.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A magnificent terraced house in the picturesque Grove Lane is currently on the market with\u00a0Wooster &amp; Stock for \u00a31,199,950.
