it is slightly amusing that the NAEA were once HIP haters but now use them as a defence. Of course in the grand scheme of things NAEA now have bigger fish to fry. People like to complain but we have now got used to the HIP to an extent and i would guess it doesnt really cause as many issues as some would like you to think.

If you think agents are going to lower fees to help stimulate market in regard to the HIP fee, you must of lost your marbles. Like all businesses they will charge the most they feel they can get away with without losing the business. This is simple economics in motion.

Allowing owners to describe there own houses and put together information is a bad idea. There are so many legal claims possible with this scenario it isnt worth thinking about, unless you are a solicitor. In fact, was this a solicitors idea?

Tina, the point ofd relaxation is to increase competition and help lower fees agents are charging. 2% in todays market with prices as they are is abusive in my opinion. Yes, there is an extra you can charge for expertise and service, but not his much

NAEA should be afraid very afraid. They do make a good point however, why should we relax regulations for big companies like Tescos to come in to the market and take money from small businesses.

Yes, there are big chains but many many small agents throughout the country. Maybe agents are as loved as our other traditional high street shops once were but do we really want yet another areas to be controlled by supermarkets such as Tesco and Asda.

Many thanks, like most we do appreciate a little recognition here and there. It was a pleasant surprise when we were reading the report to see ourselves referenced. You do have to look closely to find it :) pg138
