Mr Salaman states that accreditation bodies should not be allowed to provide Epcs direct and yet Quidos have current contracts with various Housing Associations and Local Authorities and until recently advertised this fact on their website. (Oops sorry this work is sub contracted now so Quidos are squeaky clean, not). The fact is that Quidos helped drive down the prices of EPCs because they held more cards than the rest of us and now see that they themselves have a conflict of interest.
Also on the subject of the audit process he states that they question corporate internal auditing where in truth they were and still are advocates of this process. I have to question Mr Salaman and his team's experience and long term knowledge of the industry against a vast proportion of the true professionals out there.

Next time get someone who has some credibity please NHER, BRE or Elmhurst.

@Nick ha ha. We ring DEAs and they are that clueless am sure some do the work at a level they are almost paying us. The guys who clean our windows get better paid, but then again more professional

Last time i looked DEAS they had 5 worthless organisations that represent them, but as there is so many of them i suppose they need them all. I know HIP Consultant was involved with the daily express triumph with the 2 main wastes of time, so this will probably not get published.

What were they called? i have no IDEA and Joel's crusade for the home condition report? Good luck guys, you'll need it.

There is a body representing Domestic assessors. They spend all their time whinging about how hard it is to get work at a good fee and why life is so unfair. Assessors are only under pressure on fees because there are people who will always be there to charge less. The only benefit of a representative body is if they actually have some impact on the decision and legislation-making process. Most of the organisations representing assessors truly think they are involved, they are making little difference.

What your industry needs is an industry body to represent assessors, similar to how RICS represents surveyors, the law society for solicitors etc etc.

Alternatively, an accreditation body who takes on this role will ultimately become more successful if they can absorb the initial increase in their cost base. Engagement is the key nowadays with membership schemes.

Some interesting reading from Mr Salaman. Well done to quidos for the recent research and some refreshingly honest answers.

Be interested to know what happens to those producing fraudulent EPCs, never heard of this before.
