Hi Peter

Even if the Conservatives win the election it is uncertain what will happen afterwards, will Grant Shapps stay in his current position, I doubt it and that might lead to more constructive talks to improve the whole process.

We need to work towards a product/package that as near as possible everyone says " yes, this works" which will be very hard to do considering the different vested interests involved but we are heading in that direction.

What is needed is constructive discussion with realistic sensible outcomes to secure the HIPs future, not a multitude of companies scrambling around giving sales pitches. Yes, there are financial products out there which can help but it is the consumer that ulitmately pays more for the HIP, why should they?

I agree that Hip buyers should choose their company carefully. Unfortunately it is not just the "big boys" that run up debts and then vanish. Lots of independant Hip providers have done that also. We have a protection for the consumer in that if the Hip provider uses Pali or Hipview.co.uk regardless of what happens to the Hip company the Hip is stored and retrievable. We also have a product which protects the Hip providers cash also. We offer deferred payment which is taken out before any work is carried out and the supplier gets paid regardless. Also our no sale no fee protects every one. No payment up front and if the property does not sell in nine months the Hip is free. It is the old adage really cxheapest is not always best and you usually get what you pay for. Nick Pali ltd.

Yes i agree Peter and it is noticeable that NAEA have stepped back from this childishness and issued more positive constructive statements towards the HIP.

If i was a politician i would not entertain the people you mention though Grant Shapps has certainly played his role in fuelling this.

Stamp duty has gone for FTB and see the positive reaction it has received. Did we see Estate Agents saying oooooo it wont do anything as the HIP is still here. No of course not.

It now seems a complete personal agenda between a few individuals (they dont seem to be representing their members), Nick Salmon and Trevor Kent (Splinta - HIP haters) and Grant Shapps against Mike Occendon, King and David Pett (HIP lovers).

From someone not ivolved with any of these parties in seems apparent all of the above should be removed from talks and future decison making. If this happens it maybe possible to enter into sensible constructive debate which may actually achieve improvements in the home buying/selling process. Each person side seem to have an unworkable dislike for the other which is now more like a playgroung brawl

"Grant Shapps has admitted that they need a public consultation which would take three months and a lengthy time to get that set up in the first instance would be needed, with the summer recess I would expect HIPs to see the year out at least."

And the rest. Can you really see something which brings revenue in for the government being at the front of the queue to be scrapped. I cant say i was a great lover of the HIP when i had to pay out £375, but having looked at one i was pleasantly suprised and can see the idea behind it. I check accounts and i paid £350 less than 5 years ago for conveyancing, which i guess is down to the HIP

Personally, reducing stamp duty will have a bigger effect on property market than removing some information we need anyway. The only thing which is new is the EPC certificate?

IPPA's fees are not through the roof and are interested in their members not just members cash. AHIPP members will drop as renewal times come and go. Is this not what Mike O has realised and pushed him into creating more orgs with similar membership fees.

Those that pay memberships could be disappointed with the progress made by AHIPP and possibly the harm they have done. Certainly it does not seem as if Grant Shapps is their greatest fan.

How can anyone take a consultation seriously from politicians. They use it as a tick box exercise and then do there own thing. It is even more comical considering how anti HIP Shapps was at the start.

The OFT report has suprised a few in the anti-hip camps, and with news of tescos and such like entering the market, the anti hips guys seem to be having a rethink.

Will general O and Kent soon be having afternoon tea together, mmmm possibly. Thats if AHIPP survive as it seems their members are sick of shelling out thousands with nothing in return apart from a nice logo for websites.

Grant Shapps has also said they will be scrapped in 100 days of winning power, and he likes the exchange ready pack. The problem is apart from sayin he will scrap what is it Grant Shapps will actually do instead? does he know?
